DESCRIPTION:From trees and peat to saltmarsh and seaweed. Find out more about how we can mitigate climate change through Scotland’s precious natural assets and ecosystems.  \nNature-based solutions (NbS) are solutions to societal challenges that involve working with nature to deliver benefits for both people and biodiversity. In this event we aim to explain the role that NbS can play in the mitigation of climate change and other major challenges such as disaster risk reduction. SUMMARY:From  steaming swamp to blanket bog: peatlands in action
DESCRIPTION:Come on a journey through Peru’s tropical peatlands… \nFrom this August (2021)\, you’ll be able to explore Peru’s steaming swamps through this virtual gallery … or in person in the beautiful surroundings of the St Andrews Botanic Gardens. \nThe exhibition will be exploring three key themes: \n\nEcosystems – highlighting the “ecosystem engineers” responsible for storing carbon below the ground\, and other resident plants and animals.\nFieldwork – describing experiences of data collection in and around the swamps.\nPeople and peatlands – describing experiences of data collection in and around the swamps.\n\nThe physical exhibition of photographs will run from 1st August until 31st October\, 2021\, at the St Andrews Botanic Gardens\, in Fife\, Scotland\, and available to view online throughout and beyond.
